The Tampa Bay Sentinels are the 3rd public safety football team to join the National Public Safety League from Tampa. The first Tampa Bay team to join the N.P.S.F.L was the Tampa Bay Guardians which represented the Tampa Bay area from 1993-1999 and  was a founding city of the league. In 1999 the team split apart. Half the team went to the Orlando area forming the now Orlando Guardians and the other half stayed in Tampa forming the Pinellas Posse later called the Tampa Bay Posse. The Tampa Bay Posse represented the bay area from 2000-2003.
